A RESOLUTION TO LEAD WITH CIVILITY, DIGNITY AND RESPECT

In March 2026, the National League of Cities adopted a resolution encouraging local governments to promote civility and respectful public discourse. The League of Minnesota Cities subsequently adopted its own civility resolution and encouraged member cities to consider a local Civility Pledge. The League emphasizes that effective local government depends on trust, collaboration, and respectful engagement among elected officials, staff, residents, and community partners. Adoption of the Civility Pledge demonstrates a commitment to respectful governance, constructive communication, and serving all residents with dignity and respect.
