PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 62, FOURTH SERIES AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE OF REAL ESTATE

(CITY OF LUVERNE TO LUVERNE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY)

body

Proposed Ordinance No. 62 is to convey six properties on McKenzie Street and East Maple Street to the Luverne Economic Development Authority (LEDA) to facilitate redevelopment. The LEDA will oversee planning, negotiate development agreements, and guide the highest and best use of the properties in alignment with community goals. A housing proposal was presented to the City Council at the February 10, 2026 Work Session. The proposal included a mix of duplexes, single-family homes, and townhomes to address local housing needs and is projected to add approximately $3.5 million to the tax base. The proposal aligns with the City’s comprehensive plan but will require a conditional use permit and further review by Planning and Zoning.
