Approve Plans and Specifications for TH 75 Storm Sewer Improvements Project and Authorize City Administrator to Set Bid Letting Date.

The City of Luverne is partnering with the MnDOT to construct a 30” storm sewer across T.H. 75 at Gabrielson Road (near Kwik Trip and Taco Johns). The crossing will include open throat intakes on the east and west side of the highway to improve drainage. The proposed storm sewer will connect to the infrastructure that was installed last summer along the south side of Kwik Trip’s property, which outlets into the drainage channel on the east side of their property. The project will also include replacing the existing intakes on T.H. 75 near Buffalo Ridge Insurance with larger intakes to increase the amount of storm water being captured. Due to the storm sewer being installed across the highway, a detour will need to be in place for a portion of the construction, not to exceed 15 working days. Pending approvals, the project is estimated to be bid early July with construction anticipated for late August - October of this year. The estimated construction cost is $251,000 and MnDOT has agreed to split the construction cost 50/50 with the City of Luverne through a Cooperative Construction Agreement. Once MnDOT signs the construction agreement, a bid letting date will be set.
